At the Zamora Lab, we investigate how chronic inflammation disrupts immune defenses against respiratory infections. Our research focuses on uncovering the mechanisms by which environmental exposures shape the function of the airway epithelium and phagocyte responses to bacterial and viral pathogens. We are driven by a commitment to improving the lives of individuals with chronic airway diseases by identifying novel targets for therapeutic intervention.

We also take pride in fostering a supportive and inclusive training environment. Our lab is dedicated to mentoring the next generation of scientists with a strong interest in the host-microbe interface at mucosal barrier sites.
